best of 2017

2017 has just begun and I wanted to quickly jot down some of my favorite moments from this past year. The last time I wrote in this little space was in August and one thing that I want to do more of in 2018 is write and document better and more consistently. It can be hard to find time with working and kids and just life in general but I always come back to this space and I miss writing and documenting when I don't. And now some of my favorite moments from 2017:

Favorite trip: By far, this would be Disney. Josh and I both said that our Disney trip this year was up there with our trip to St. John. It was that good. The time spent together was priceless and a trip I know I will never forget and hope my girls don't ever forget. We really loved going in the summer and staying at the Beach Club was amazing.

Favorite book: It's Okay to Laugh (Crying is Cool Too). Nora writes about living life and about death. Her writing is spot on and it's like she is next to you telling her story. It's heartbreaking and funny and I would definitely recommend this book to anyone.

Favorite show: I would have to say it's a tie between Shameless and Dexter. We watched seasons 1-7 of Shameless and were super obsessed with it. Once that was over we tried a few different series but couldn't really get into any. We found Dexter and I thought it was going to be really dark and way too fucked up of a show to actually watch, but I was so wrong. We are on season 8 of Dexter right now and of course it's dark and fucked up, but not in the scary way that I thought it was going to be. It has humor and great acting and you can't help but become team Dexter :)

Favorite artist: I have been loving Chris Stapleton lately!

Favorite part: I would say 2017 was a pretty low key year. My absolute favorite part was our Disney trip for sure, but some other parts of the year that stick out to me include: doing a fair amount of hiking and exploring new trails with the girls and dogs, Nicole turning 4 and how adorable she was in cheerleading, Kennadie turning 8 and watching her horseback riding and winning 1st and 2nd place in her first small horse "show", Josh coaching Kennadie's soccer team and watching these girls (we had such a great team!), my little sister getting married, taking Kennadie on her first haunted hayride and her loving it, and finally getting the ball going on re-doing our home! So far we have done our kitchen, living room, foyer, and front porch. I still have a few little finishing touches that I want to do in these rooms but the major things are pretty much done in these spaces. And we have a company that is going to remodel the sunroom so it can be a regular room off the kitchen. I am so looking forward to this in 2018!
