four: a birthday letter

Dear Kennadie,

As we blew out the candles on our birthday cake tonight I was reminded how very special it is to share a birthday with you. I waited my entire life for you & four years ago I was blessed with the most amazing little girl. These past four years have been filled with the best moments of my life. You bring so much joy & excitement to our lives & not a day goes by that I don’t think of how much I want to stop time & hold on to these precious days forever. It’s bittersweet watching you grow. I am so excited about what lies ahead for you & have enjoyed every moment watching you grow into the little girl that you are, but I secretly want to keep you three forever. I tell you all the time that you will always be my baby. And you will. Don’t rush this OK?
You don’t even know it but you teach me every day. You show me what it’s like to live in the moment- to not worry about yesterday or tomorrow but to just enjoy the right here, right now. You show me how powerful love can be. You show me how to be kind to everyone. You teach me what is truly important in life.

I’m so proud of you; so proud of the little girl you are, the way you comfort others, & of the kindness you have inside of you.
You kept me going through the most difficult time of my life. Your smile guided me through these days. You were the reason I fought so hard. And together, we beat it.

These four years have been filled with laughter…

 & so many smiles.

Thank you for the happiness you have brought into our lives, for the warm cuddles late at night & early in the morning, for the laughter & your contagious little smile, for the unconditional love, for the constant amusement & your silly ways, for making each day a surprise, for making me a better person, for your kisses & hugs, & for all of the memories.

Happy Birthday my little princess. I love you more than peanut butter cup sundaes & chocolate cupcakes with rainbow sprinkles.

Love always & forever,
