happy weekend

Just a few words and some photos from my phone of our weekend.

I thought there wasn't anything cuter than watching Kennadie at her dance recitals, but this whole soccer thing? It's got the dance recitals beat. They trip all over each other and kick the ball in the wrong direction; and when they do have the ball they stop and look at each other half the time like they don't really know what to do with it. It's adorable and hilarious.

This is the second time I caught my kid on camera chatting away with her friends on the field.

She got smacked right in the stomach with the ball when it was her turn as goalie. But she stopped the ball from going in (yay!) and assistant coach, daddy, comforted her on the side and five minutes later she was fine.

So random, but the woman in the background? Totally makes me laugh every time I look at this photo.

After soccer, we headed out to a fair with some friends. I usually love these things- in the fall and when the weather is cool. And although we had fun, I was also miserable. It was so ridiculously hot and humid out and I am not a person who sweats (ever), but on Saturday I was sweating. My clothes stuck to my skin and the girls' cheeks were bright red. I couldn't drink enough water and every time I looked down at my feet that were covered in a layer of dirt the only think I could think about was how I couldn't wait to get home and take a nice cold shower.

One thing I was looking forward to was a big, hot piece of fried dough sprinkled with sugar. All to myself.  Unfortunately, that wasn't how it went down. After only a few bites, Nicole dropped her four dollar ice cream on the ground and Kennadie insisted on having a six dollar vanilla milkshake that turned watery after only a few minutes. So, that fried dough I thought I was going to enjoy all to myself was now being shared between three of us. And then a random gust of wind came and blew the last piece of fried dough off my plate. I was done at that point. All I can do is laugh about this entire experience :)

It was worth every inch of dirt and sweat and dropped four dollar ice creams and shared food and sticky hair because my girls had fun.

They saw animals and rode horses and played around and went on rides together.

The three of them rode the ferris wheel by themselves and the rules were no standing, no touching the doors and no moving at all. And we think they really thought we were serious about the whole no moving at all rule because every time we saw them go by they were sitting perfectly still.

Hope you had a great weekend!
