letter to kennadie

My little monkey,

The last five years we have been together almost ever single day. You have been my little sidekick- running errands, grocery shopping, hanging out at home and at the beach and at playgrounds and the library. During the week (and most Saturdays) it has been just the two of us and I want you to know how completely special every single day spent with you has been and will continue to be and how blessed I feel to have had this one-on-one time with you.

Things are changing and our new little girl has been here almost two weeks and you are an amazing big sister and helper and as much as we all love her and are excited that she is here, I also know that I have had to say goodbye to the time of our life where it was just the two of us. The time with you has been so special and I hope that with photos and the documenting that I have done that you will know just how very special you are to me and how I have cherished these moments with you. I promise you that we will still have "our time" together as I know how important it is for you, for me, for us.

You are my girl that made me a mom and I get sad when I think about how fast the time goes by and how big you are getting. You love music and you listen to it almost every night before falling asleep. You love to dance and perform and write your own stories. You are reading more and more on your own now and I love that time with you helping you sound out words. You like the house clean (you get that from mommy and daddy) and you pick up after your little sister when she makes a mess. You like your quiet time and your own space, but you also love being around us and our family and your friends. You love when I call you monkey and sista and sweet pea.

You just started swim class this week and you were so excited about it. You were a little nervous going into the class because Lindsey wasn't going to be your teacher and you told me, "I think I  am going to be nervous because I don't know my teachers or the kids". I told you that you could try the class and then you could decide to stick with that class or I could move you into a different one, but you loved it and told me that you loved the teachers and wanted to stay with this one. I am so proud of you and all that you do and one of my favorite things in the summer is to watch you in swim class. It's always been very special to me.

We have the entire summer to hang out every day and I am making sure we enjoy every moment of it before you move on to Kindergarten in the fall. I love you more than you will ever know and I love you more than peanut butter cup ice cream!
