On our way to the pond for a winter picnic she asked from the backseat of the car, "Mommy, is this the pond near the house where you & daddy used to live?" She remembered from last fall when we came here & drove by the first house Josh & I rented together. This spot is so peaceful & has so many memories & as long as we live close enough we will keep coming back.
The sun was shining, the sky was blue, we were the only ones around & the dog was free to roam as he pleased. We had an amazing day & we lost ourselves in this winter wonderland-walking all around the pond holding hands, talking & her deciding that the smell of smoke from a nearby wood stove was actually someone making hot dogs. We chased each other & threw snow. Kennadie couldn't help herself & had to dump snow on our poor dog & he just took it. She told me that the ducks we usually see here were not around because they were under the ice in the pond. When we found huge tracks in the snow I told her they were from a bear but then she reminded me how bears have claws & these tracks in the snow were not from a bear because they were round at the top. She wasn't falling for it. Smart kid.
